About
Megumi Tanaka (they/them) was born in 1991 in Cupertino, CA. They learned to code at a young age, building websites with SQL databases and PHP templates. After CSS launched, they published Xanga themes and Photoshop tutorials. During high school, they worked as a photographer while performing in bands as a vocalist, pianist, and guitarist.
In the '10s, they attended California College of the Arts while working in the tea industry. They transferred to UC Berkeley to study Cognitive Science, then started working as a Product Designer in San Francisco. While building marketplaces, fintech products, and atomic design systems, they continued coding, taught UX/UI, and composed electronic music.
Since 2020, they’ve shifted between web development, teaching, and art direction. Currently coding design systems and building small software. They dream of a gentler, softer internet.
